Assignment - nuisance callers dial up a 999 logjam

This article is most likely be a plot driven story.
This is because the whole article is mostly about pranksters calling the police hot line for no apparent reason. The story states the time when most pranksters call, how they prank and what the prank about. There is no mention of a unrealistic world or realm so it would not be a milieu story. It does not convey a message so it is not a idea based one.


Many calls regard miscellaneous things, like where is the hotel is. Other miscellaneous calls regard the sightings of stray animals. I mean, in which place in Singapore would you not see a stray cat or dog? Then there is this woman asking about her salary. Doesn't she know there is an organization called the MOM? Ministry Of Manpower that is. I thought the MOM accepts questions about manpower. MOM settle problems regarding work and salary. Police catch criminals, not settle salary issues. Then there are these pranksters who call for fun. Assuming there are 10 officers on duty of picking up calls and conveying message to the higher-ups. If all the officers are busy entertaining pranks, and a person, lets say, whose house was burgled. Then the call would not get through and the burglar might escape. So the HQ says that the hot line is for EMERGENCY purposes only. Is asking for directions an emergency? I think not.
